Es una obra descriptiva y narra dos
episodios que han marcado un hecho histórico en la ciudad de Algemesí.
Algemiz es el arreglo para banda sinfónica
del original Aljama
2º Premio de Composición para dolçaina y banda “Ciutat d’Algemesí” en el año
1999.
De la voz árabe “Algemiz”, que quiere decir
pueblo de moros deriva el nombre de Algemesí, pueblo asentado al lado del
río Xúquer (Sucro) al Sur de la ciudad de Valencia.Basándose en el nombre de
Algemesí, surge el principal motivo de la obra. Aparece de la siguiente
manera:
AL (la) - GE (sol) - ME (mi) - SÍ (si)
Estos, (la - sol - mi - si) en todas sus
transposiciones son el motivo para la construcción de todas las melodías y
giros utilizados en esta obra.
I.- Batalla del Sucro, librada en Algemesí.
En la época de la dominación de los romanos
acontece la sanguinolenta batalla del Xúquer, entre las tropas de Pompeyo y
las de Sartorio. Los dos generales acampan a uno y otro lado del río Xúquer.
Durante la puesta del sol, Sertorio forma su ejército en batalla. El cielo
se cubre de nubes espesas y horrorosas y los truenos retumban con
estrepitoso fragor. Pronto los ejércitos salvan las esquinas acampando por
los bordes cuarenta mil hombres; la mitad de cada lado mueren en combate.
La victoria está indecisa pero, finalmente,
Pompeyo se retira.
II.- Dansa dels Conqueridors.
Vencedor el rey D. Jaime de los moros de
Almenara, piensa hacer una expedición al Xúquer para probar la energía de
sus defensores y ,así, apoderarse de esta por sorpresa.
El rey comienza el viaje juntamente con casi
mil soldados, andando de noche por el lado del mar. De camino por la Ribera
acampan por las noches en diferentes lugares. Es en estos campamentos es
donde aparecen las danzas de los conquistadores, algunas veces interrumpidas
por algún contraataque. Finalmente llegan a Cotes, termino de Algemesí,
pasando por “Vad-el-Xúcar” (río de plata de los árabes), pasan la noche y
vuelven al punto de partida.

From the árabe "Algemiz voice", that it
means town of Moors derives the name from Algemesí, town seated next to
the Xúquer river (Sucro) to the South of the city of Valencia.Basándose
in the name of Algemesí:

These, (A-G-E-B) in all their
transpositions are the reason for the construction of all melodías and
turns used in this work.
It is a descriptive work and it narrates
two episodes that have marked an historical fact in the city of Algemesí.
Algemesi is a town situated on the banks of
the river Sucron, in the south of Valencia in Spain. Algemiz by Ferrer
Ferran was inspired by two historical events connected with the town. When
the Iberian peninsula was under the rule of the Romans a bloody battle took
place between the armies of the generals Pompey and Sertorius known as The
Battle of Sucron. Much later in the 13th century, Don Jaime 1, king of
Aragon who had been defeated by the Maures d’Almenara, decided to lead an
expedition to Sucron to evaluate the resistance of the Arab forces and
conquer Alegmesi. This story of this expedition is told in The Dance of the
Conquerors.
I.- Batalla del Sucro.
At the time of the domination of the Romans
sanguinolenta occurs battles of the Xúquer, between the troops of Pompeyo
and those of Sartorio. Both general they encamp on both sides of the Xúquer
river. During the putting of the sun, Sertorio forms its army in battle. The
sky is covered with thick clouds and horrorosas and the thunderclaps resound
with resounding din. Soon the armies save the corners encamping by the edges
forty thousand men; half of each side dies in combat. The victory is
indecisa but, finally, Pompeyo retires.
The final apotheosis represents the songs of
praise for the fallen at the battle.
II.- Dansa dels conqueridors.
Winner king D. Jaime of the Moors of
Almenara, thinks to make an expedition to the Xúquer to prove the energy of
his defenders and, thus, to seize of this by surprise.
The king together begins the trip with almost
thousand soldiers, walking at night by the side of the sea. Of way by the
Shore they encamp by the nights in different places. It is in these campings
is where they appear the dances of the conquerors, some times interrupted by
some counterattack. Finally they arrive at Cotes, I finish of Algemesí,
happening through "Vad-el-Xúcar" (river of silver of the Arabs), they spend
the night and they return to begin with to the point.
